What better way to celebrate a Friday than National Donut Day! Get out the Crisco and retro donut maker and fry up a few (or a few dozen)!

When I was growing up my mom used to make donuts using canned biscuits. (She called them Ballard Biscuits). I got to help make the frosting or roll them in cinnamon sugar
Yum! You’re making my mouth water! BTW…was your mom from the Ballard neighborhood here in Seattle?
Ahhhh, back in the days when donuts were “healthy”. (LOL) Love these old ads… I’ll take a few dozen, please. Too fun! Thanks for sharing.
No; she was from here in the Midwest
I think Ballard was a brand name of biscuits back then? Canned biscuits did make great donuts. Cut the centers out and deep fry them (and the donut holes) until golden brown. Frost or roll in sugar while warm. They were quick and easy and inexpensive to make. Not sure they were very healthy though
